Eric was only 12 years old when he made his first sale at his family's music store. His mom told him to go wait on a customer...and that's where his sales career started. They sold in 1973, (his first experience in selling a business) and opened a chain of stores in Florida. Eric managed multiple stores, did 100% of the marketing and was the top salesperson (selling guitars and amplifiers that cost as much as a decent used car in those days!) He left the family business to start his own direct mail marketing firm in 1979 and later helped engineer the sale of his family's business to his brothers.
Exits #1 and 2
In just 3 years, National List Council became the largest Direct Marketing Agency in Orlando. His clients included Walt Disney World, Sea World, SunTrust, major advertising agencies, and AAA to name a few. Eric won many local and national awards and served on the Advertising Federation Board. He was elected President of the Florida Direct Marketing Association before he sold NLC (by himself) in 1992...to his biggest competitor...Exit #3!
Next was Sprinkle's Custom Cakes, founded by his fiance, Sharon. He got involved in the sales and marketing side (he still can't bake to this day) and helped quadruple the business! In less than 6 months, they went from 4 cakes/month to 20 per week at almost double the price... proving that people will pay for quality. They sold in 1995 and it's still in operation today! That's Branding! It was also Exit #4.
Eric was a natural in the Business Consulting field. He quickly rose to the top of a national sales organization (#3 in his 3rd week with 157 reps) before moving to Boston and NY for 3 years where he was consistently #1 nationally in the company. He moved back to Florida in 2000 and continued his winning sales efforts. In 2003, when his earnings topped out, he started another business from scratch...almost...
Eric Shulman has been selling since 1963. He's bought a Sales Training Franchise in 2003 and won the Rookie of the Year Award and a Heavy Hitter Award in his first 8 months! He grew his business over the next 17 years training hundreds of teams, winning every award up to the Diamond Level Award! In 2019, he merged his office with another Trainer as part of his own exit strategy (Exit #5).
